WebMay 9, 2014 · I would highly recommend the LS route over the SBC. Yes it costs a little more, but it is a far superior design. Plus, with adding efi to an sbc, you will have aftermarket parts that cannot be gotten (usually) from your local parts store readily. LS engines are everywhere and parts are readily available. How much is petrol over there $5 a gallon or something like that? I haven't calculated my mpg yet, but my buddy gets 27-30mpg on long trips. An LT-1 and an LS-1, along with others, are all 350s in displacement. The engines belong to different generations.
