I've had them apart on the bench and internally the spring is the difference. Huge difference in braking power with the ZJ spring in the XJ valve and it takes < 5 minutes to do. I read as much as i could find about proportion valves when putting disc brakes on the rear of my YJ. The early 87-1990 YJ's had a different valve than the 1991-1995 YJ's. But the 1991-1995 YJ's used the same proportion valve as TJ's did with disc brakes in the rear.
