WebJan 20, 2016 · Methinks the TC Hawken .50 caliber has a 1/48" twist rate. A barrel with a 1/48" twist rate will shoot both conicals and patched round balls very well. Granular Pyrodex works very well in conventional muzzleloaders. Granular Triple Seven is harder to ignite and may require use of a magnum cap. This will be a nice plinking, target shooting, and small game load for his .50 calibre. The gun seemed to foul after only about 6 or 7 shots in a shooting string.
